Chilean procedural deadline calculator
Compute when a Chilean court or administrative deadline expires by type of proceeding: civil, family, labor, collection, criminal or administrative, with Chilean holidays and the governing statute.
Counting starts the day after the date entered and uses Chile's national and regional holidays for 2026–2027. It is an aid: always check the ruling, any special rule that may apply and any suspension ordered by the court.
How deadlines are counted in each proceeding
Civil
Day deadlines under the Code of Civil Procedure are suspended on holidays (art. 66). In practice Sundays and holidays are excluded and Saturdays count, because Saturday is not a legal holiday. They are peremptory (art. 64).
Family
Ley 19.968 refers to the common rules of the Code of Civil Procedure (art. 27), so the same rule applies: Sundays and holidays are excluded and Saturdays count.
Labor and collection
Day deadlines in labor proceedings are suspended on holidays (Labor Code, art. 435): Sundays and holidays are excluded and Saturdays count.
Criminal
Every day is a business day and holidays do not suspend deadlines (Code of Criminal Procedure, art. 14). If the last day is a Sunday or holiday, the deadline is extended to the next day that is not; if it falls on a Saturday, it expires that Saturday.
Administrative
Ley 19.880 deadlines are in business days: Saturdays, Sundays and holidays are not. If the last day is not a business day, it moves to the next business day (art. 25).
What about February?
Since Ley 20.774 (2014) there is no February judicial recess: deadlines run normally all month in every jurisdiction.
Questions about computing deadlines
Is Saturday a business day for court deadlines?
In civil, family and labor proceedings, yes: deadlines are only suspended on holidays and Saturday is not a legal holiday. In administrative proceedings under Ley 19.880, no: Saturday is not a business day.
From which day does counting start?
From the day after notification. Enter the date of effective notification and the calculator counts from the next day.
Is there a judicial recess in February?
No. Ley 20.774 abolished it in 2014; deadlines run normally in February.
What if the OJV is down on the due date?
The outage does not extend the deadline by itself. The Judiciary certifies the failure on pjud.cl and allows filing on paper at the court. Check the live status on our Is the OJV down? page.
